Empowering Women: The Rise of Female Business Leaders

Leadership rarely goes according to script—and a few weeks ago, while filming Season 3 of The Entrepreneurial You, I experienced just how true that is. It was a day shaped by a cascade of unexpected turns that showcased the heart of leadership: the courage to pivot, the grace to hold steady, and the wisdom to trust the “voice within.”

The Unexpected Challenge

I had meticulously laid out my schedule. All 13 episodes in the Season were already booked, but when a slot suddenly opened, I felt a strong prompting to fill it myself—turning the spotlight inward for a change. Yet, I stuck to convention, offering it to a PR agent’s client. On the morning of our shoot, after a series of diva-like behaviours (even my makeup artist was subjected to rudeness), the guest abruptly left. In that moment, I could have stressed or lamented. But instead, I assured my team, “We’re not going to sweat it—the show must go on.” So it did: I stepped into that empty seat, interviewed myself, and turned adversity into innovation.

Leadership Lessons From the Studio

1. Poise Under Pressure: My immediate, calm response set the tone: no panic, no negativity—only resolve. This composure prevented my team’s morale from dipping and reinforced trust in my leadership.

2. Protecting and Respecting the Team: Allowing disrespect toward my crew was never an option. By severing ties with the difficult guest, I showed my team that their well-being and dignity were paramount. This simple act spoke louder than any pep talk.

3. Seizing Opportunity in Challenge” Turning an empty slot into an opportunity to share my own story and insights wasn’t just a stopgap—it was an innovative shift that elevated my brand. When leaders transform setbacks into new opportunities, they reveal creativity, adaptability, and true stewardship.

4. Trusting Intuition: That inner voice prompting me to claim the slot in the first place? It was the seed of the breakthrough I needed. Sometimes, leadership means listening before reason catches up—honouring the Holy Spirit, giving unconventional instincts a chance, and welcoming the path less travelled.

Scripture Spotlight ✝️

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV): “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” A timeless reminder that inner guidance is vital to courageous leadership.

The Science of Agility and Emotional Intelligence

Research shows leaders who demonstrate agility and emotional intelligence during crises inspire higher team trust, engagement, and collaboration.
