Empowering Women: The Rise of Female Business Leaders

When Life Takes a Turn, Don’t Just Brace—Lean In!

Recently, at an intimate event for women of faith (read: soul nourishing, powerhouse vibes and zero awkward small talk!), I found myself sitting with three inspiring women. One was a past collaborator, making the connection extra sweet—like running into an old friend at an ice cream shop and both of you immediately ordering chocolate pistachio flavour.🍦

During worship and purposeful conversations, one simple message stuck with me as I navigate my own season of change: “lean into the transition.” Picture this: life as a vehicle turning a sharp corner. You don’t want to stay awkwardly upright while the car tilts; you want to lean with it. It’s deliberate, it’s safer, and let’s be honest: it looks cooler! The analogy hit home: to move forward, I have to match my posture with the curve.

Leadership Lessons from Leaning In 🎢✨

1. Trust and Humility

Leaning into change means trusting the journey even if it involves GPS recalculating… again. It’s admitting I don’t have all the answers (that “recalculation” voice is starting to sound suspiciously like some mother-in-law!) and letting humility open the door to opportunities I might miss if I resist the ride.

2. Courage and Action

If leaning in was passive, I’d be napping through my transition. Instead, it’s choosing every day to MOVE FORWARD—even without a perfectly clear road. It’s bold, it’s a little sweaty, and it’s undeniably leadership in action. Momentum beats resistance, even if my turn signal is blinking furiously.

3. Adaptability and Resilience

Like a car that hugs the curve of the road, I have to be flexible, ready to pivot, and unapologetic when I need to steer abruptly to avoid potholes (or unexpected meetings). By leaning in, I build resilience, my own “shock absorbers” for the journey’s bumps.

4. Inner Alignment

Leaning in also means making sure my internal GPS matches my external itinerary. When my purpose and actions are lined up, I show up authentically… and my leadership gets a five-star rating from passengers (a.k.a. the team). 🚦

Pensive Punchline

Leaning into this season isn’t about surviving; it’s about growing through every curve. Each twist in the road is a lesson, every challenge is a rest stop for reflection, and every smooth stretch is a chance to enjoy the ride, window down, hair blowing, music up!

Scripture Spotlight ✝️

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

Because even when you can’t see around the curve, there’s guidance and grace for the journey.

The Science & Humour Behind Change 🧠😆

Did you know studies show those who lean into transitions rather than brace against them experience less stress and adapt more quickly? Neuroscientists say embracing change boosts creativity, resilience, and even happiness. (And yes, leaders who laugh at detours are 33% more likely not to accidentally drive off a metaphorical cliff.)

Fun Fact of the Week 🤔

Most drivers instinctively straighten up in a turn, even though leaning in makes the ride smoother. So next time you catch yourself fighting change, channel your inner rally car driver, lean in and let it ride!
