Show Notes

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” —Melody Beattie

At the end of 2018 I dedicated my journal to 2019. I wrote that It would be the most epic year of my life. In it I said I will do things I have never done go places I’ve never gone and on income that I’ve never before, and I would go deeper in God, have more meaningful relationships and avoid people who are toxic. I also wrote that 2019 is the year of discipline, focus and accomplishment, My year of discipline, focus and accomplishment, I will give back to those in need and support those who need me, I commit to reading more, focus on growth oriented people, be more, do more, I will rise even higher with the power of Almighty God. Those are the things I wrote in 2018 for 2019.

As I reflect on those words, I can share that I have had some major wins and some really low points. I call them the highs and lows of 2019.

Here is a snippet of what I shared on this solo episode of the podcast:

Depression

“…Depression is real. We talk about a lot of things; we sweep things under the carpet. We don’t want to brush on the fact that if you are having a mental health challenge, then you need to get help for your mind; for your brain. We have heart problems and we go to the doctor; high blood pressure, whatever; these are diseases and you go to the doctor for them for physical things that you physically deal with. But when it comes to our mental health, a lot of us don’t want to talk about it. I think I was overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed by being in a very toxic environment with people who are not supposed to be toxic.”

It is interesting that as I go on my journey I discover more people who are also along the journey of evaluating all the different areas of their life. I committed to reading the entire bible for the year and as a Christian, I felt very embarrassed that there we so many things in the Bible that I was not aware of.

2020 for me is going to involve a lot of personal transformation as well and I started with a complete 360-degree evaluation of all aspects of my life. It’s life-changing.

OMG, I was fed the lie about women as well. I’ve had close male friends all my life and to this day I only have 2 close female friends but I’ve come to respect the female community especially in Christendom who are making bold moves to impact the world.

Yess girl, mental health is a sickness and the black community and the Christian community needs to recognize that!

My biggest takeaway “In spite of my flaws I am perfect.” Yaaaaaaas

By the way–> YOU ARE AWESOME!
