Leading with Authenticity in the Social Media Space, with Kim Garst

Kim Garst is one of the world’s most tweeted people among digital marketers. She is a renowned marketing strategist, keynote speaker and an internationally bestselling author of Will the Real You Please Stand Up: Show Up, Be Authentic and Prosper in Social Media. Forbes named her as one of the top ten social media power influencers. Her blog, kimgarst.com is one of the top social media resources in the world.

Show  Notes:

A self-described accidental social media influencer and entrepreneur, Kim Garst struggled with authenticity when she focused on getting started in social media and trying to leverage the platform to attract people to her business over twenty five years ago. Like so many others, she stressed so much over what she should post and whether people would engage with.

However, one day she made the decision to step back and just focus on what she would say standing right in front of somebody she cared about and then her strategy of being authentic was created. She reminds us:
“Don’t get wrapped up in watching what everyone else is doing. Worry about what you are doing and how you can show up and what you bring to the table because that’s ultimately how you’re going to prosper at higher levels than you currently are”.

Listen to this week’s episode of the Entrepreneurial You Podcast to hear Kim Garst further detail her strategy of being authentic to prosper in social media and becoming an influencer in the space.

This has helped me a whole lot, I worry a lot about the value of what is important to me and who I am. Sometimes I also feel I can’t find it. But the Lord created us all with great value…it must be worthwhile to dig in find it and show up with it. Everyone should let their own light shine.
